Dorset’s Mobile Stations Boost Community Ties

Dorset’s Mobile Stations Boost Community Ties

Dorset Police has introduced two mobile police stations to strengthen links with residents and visitors, launching the scheme in early September 2025. These vans, one covering the west and the other the east, park at fixed sites each month, allowing people to drop in without appointments.

For Highclifffe, the van will be located at Cliffe Top Car Park from 11am until 1 pm, the 3rd Thursday of each month.

The aim centres on making officers more accessible, especially in areas without permanent stations, following public calls for better engagement. Staffed by neighbourhood policing teams, the stations offer a chance to report issues, seek advice, or discuss safety matters face-to-face.

The eastern vehicle, based in Ferndown, also stops at Verwood, Wimborne, Shaftesbury, and Christchurch, creating a circuit through varied landscapes from market towns to seaside edges.

In the west, the Dorchester-based unit visits places like Weymouth, Lyme Regis, and Bridport. Schedules stay consistent to build familiarity, with details on the police website for confirmation.

The initiative stems from feedback showing a preference for community-based interactions over central desks. Officers encourage casual visits, fostering trust in quieter settings away from formal buildings.

These mobile stations enhance Dorset’s welcoming feel for newcomers, integrating safety chats into your travels seamlessly.
